HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss football has landed its eighth verbal commitment in the last 12 days. 

Offensive lineman Jayden Hobson became the latest prospect to join the fold on Thursday evening. Hobson attends Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. 

Listed at 6-foot-5, 293 pounds by 247Sports, Hobson also held offers from West Virginia, Appalachian State, Liberty and Memphis, among others. 

The Class of 2023 prospect has not yet been rated by 247Sports.

Hobson becomes the 12th member of Will Hall’s 2023 class. He’s the third offensive lineman to commit to the Golden Eagles in this cycle, joining Tanner Welch and Luke Rogers – both in-state recruits. 

Hobson is the second Hillcrest player to commit to Southern Miss in the last 10 days, after quarterback Ethan Crawford made the pledge on June 21. 

Southern Miss’ 2023 class currently ranks 70th in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite.
