Names Released In Lincoln County Fatal Crash
What: Two-Vehicle Crash
Where: S.D. Highway 44, mile marker 408
Three miles southeast of Lennox, S.D.
When: 5:44 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2022
Driver No. 1: James Miles, 44, Worthing, S.D., Minor Injuries
Vehicle: 2017 Ford Escape
Driver No. 2: Bruce Hartman, 66, Worthing, S.D., Fatal Injuries
Vehicle: 1999 Chevrolet C1500 Pickup
LENNOX, S.D. – A Worthing, S.D., man has died as a result of injuries suffered Friday in a two-vehicle crash southeast of Lennox.
Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2017 Ford Escape was eastbound on South Dakota Highway 44 when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound 1999 Chevrolet C1500 pickup.
Bruce Hartman, the 66-year-old pickup driver, sustained life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where he died Sunday, April 17. He was not wearing a seat belt.
James Miles of Worthing, 44, was the driver of Ford. He was wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital. Charges are pending against him.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
