SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Tuesday is Hunger Action Day.

In South Dakota, more than 106-thousand people are considered food insecure.

In the future there’ll be one more place to turn for help.

“This statewide collaborative, which is the first of its kind in South Dakota, is made up of cross-sector of interested participants and entities who have a singular vision to bring a collective voice to support access to nutritious food, which builds a strong foundation for a healthy South Dakota families and communities to prosper,” said Tony Burke, government relations team lead for the American Heart Association.

The group’s main goal is to impact health outcomes in South Dakota.

As part of Hunger Action Day, Feeding South Dakota will light the Arc of Dreams orange tonight in downtown Sioux Falls.
