SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sobriety checkpoints will be conducted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol in 14 counties during the month of August.

The checkpoints will be held in Beadle, Brown, Codington, Fall River, Jones, Kingsbury, Lake, Lyman, Minnehaha, Moody, Pennington, Roberts, Sanborn and Yankton Counties, according to the S.D. Department of Public Safety.

The checkpoints are designed to discourage people from driving impaired.
