SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —It’s another cold start to the day across KELOLAND, but warmer weather is on the way. The transition will bring the chance of wintry weather to southeastern KELOLAND tonight and tomorrow.
Winter weather advisories have been posted for much of southeastern KELOLAND, including Sioux Falls. A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will impact these areas and slippery travel is expected. Please use caution if you must travel and slow down for the road conditions. We are not forecasting heavy amounts of precipitation, but even a little freezing rain can make for icy roads.
Expect temperatures to rise into the lower 20s today in Sioux Falls. These numbers should hold steady overnight.
Here’s a closer look at our freezing rain forecast. While the numbers aren’t too large, just a few hundredths of an inch is enough to cause slick road conditions.
This system will be impacting much of Iowa and southern MN through the day on Saturday. Heavier icing is likely in eastern Iowa, so please watch the forecast if you must travel farther east out of KELOLAND. Watch the video below for timing details.
