Weather officials said there was a slight chance of thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon for portions of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Meteorologists expect isolated to scattered storms to develop in some parts of the area in the afternoon capable of producing cloud to ground lightning and brief downpours, as well as wind gusts up to 45 mph, officials said.

Storms may linger into the evening hours.

Temperatures were expected to reach 76 degrees Wednesday, and to remain the same through Sunday, with a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday.

Current morning conditions at O’Hare International Airport are partly cloudy at 81 degrees, and at Midway Airport 79 degrees.
