Some sweets treats may have an extra — unwelcome — ingredient.
Mars Wrigley announced it was recalling several types of Skittles, Starbursts and Life Savers candies over concerns of metal contamination.
The voluntary recall was announced by the company and then shared by the Food and Drug Administration late last week.
The recall affects 13 varieties of Skittles Gummies, Starburst Gummies and Life Savers Gummies between 3.5 ounces and 12 ounces that may have a thin metal strand embedded in the candies or loose in the bag.

“We received reports from consumers alerting us to this matter and are not aware of any illnesses to date,” Mars Wrigley Confectionary said.
“Products were manufactured by a third party and distributed in the United States, Canada and Mexico.”
The company said it was working with retail partners to get the affected items out of stores. Customers are encouraged to throw their candies away if they are recalled.
