A shooting in downtown Chattanooga, Tenn., Saturday night left six people injured, including two with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Gunfire broke out just before 11 p.m. and police found a group of people, many teenagers or in their early 20s, scattering, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Officials reportedly believe that some of the victims may have been bystanders. No victims have been publicly identified.

One person of interest has been detained, but it’s unclear if any charges have been filed.

A spokesman for the Chattanooga Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment from the Daily News Sunday.

“Last night, our city felt the terrible cost of gun violence. My heart is with the families whose lives have been upended by this horrific situation,” Mayor Tim Kelly tweeted Sunday.

“This is unacceptable — our city and our community will act.”
