SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls School District will be looking for a new superintendent.

According to a news release, Dr. Jane Stavem will step down in her role as superintendent at the end of the school year. Stavem took over the position in 2020.

“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve as superintendent of the Sioux Falls School District,” Stavem said in a news release. “I have truly enjoyed leading this district and working alongside the exceptional teachers, dedicated administrators, supportive board members, and strong community partners who care so deeply about the success of our students.”

A new three-year contract was approved by the school board in July 2023.

The Sioux Falls School District is the largest in the state with about 24,000 students. A search for a successor will start in the coming months.

This is a developing story.
