SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls has once again been named one of the top 50 places for families to live by Fortune magazine.
Siara Shabanov and her family have lived in Sioux Falls for 4 years.
“Me and my husband, we moved here in December of 2020, and we are loving it,” Sioux Falls resident, Siara Shabanov said.
Compared to her previous home of Washington state, she is happy to be raising her family in Sioux Falls.
“I would say this is a very family-oriented city and it makes raising a family that much better because I feel like our city gears toward families and there’s lots of things for you to choose from,” Shabanov said.
Fortune Magazine agrees. It’s put Sioux Falls in the top 50 places for families to live.
“My only thought was I thought we should been higher, but we’ll take you know, we’ll take being one of 50. I mean, Sioux Falls is a great place to live,” CEO of Experience Sioux Falls Teri Schmidt said.
The article cites different places across the city as to what makes it special, such as the sculpture walk and Falls Park, calling the city a ‘nature lover’s delight.’ However, Sioux Falls residents believe there’s a different aspect that sets Sioux Falls apart from other cities.
“People here are so nice. And ever since I’ve lived here, I’ve noticed how inclusive people are, how friendly they are, how caring, how they work together to make things happen for the betterment of all,” Schmidt said.
Making it the perfect home for families.
“So it’s really a blessing that we were able to be here, that we’re able to be here, and especially having kids here, so much better than the Washington life. So we’re very blessed,” Shabanov said.
