WHITESTOWN, IND. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Little League team won its second straight game to open the Midwest Regional with a 12-0 shutout of Minnesota Sunday morning.

The South Dakota state champs scored five runs in the top of the first inning and plated the other seven in the fifth.

In the first, the first three batters of the game reached base to load the bases. The first two runs scored on an error by the Minnesota third baseman. After two more runs crossed the plate, Sullivan Krueger capped the rally off with an RBI single.

Then in the fifth, all of the runs came with two outs in the inning. Kinnick Noble and Ryan Henry belted back-to-back RBI doubles. That was followed by three straight RBI singles before Devin Newhall smacked a two-run home run to complete the seven-run frame.

South Dakota allowed just five Minnesota and tallied nine strikeouts.

Sioux Falls advances to play Missouri on Wednesday.
