SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Authorities on Friday shared the name of the man who died in a single-vehicle crash Sept. 1 near Fort Thompson.
Micheal Richard Washechek, 38, of Harrold, was driving a 2008 Mercury Mariner SUV westbound on South Dakota Highway 34 near mile marker 271 when the vehicle left the roadway, vaulted over a driveway, and crashed in the south ditch, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The crash happened about 3:01 a.m.
Washechek died in the crash. A passenger has life-threatening injuries, the DPS said. They were not wearing seatbelts.
