Former U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch will lead a sweeping review of Northwestern University and its beleaguered athletics department, university leaders announced today amid the fallout of a football hazing scandal that expanded to allegations of abuse and bullying on other teams and prompted multiple lawsuits.

Lynch, who served as attorney general from 2015 to 2017 and is now in private practice, will provide regular updates to Northwestern President Michael Schill and the board of trustees’ audit and risk committee.

A rendering shows changes to the Shedd Aquarium with two towering saltwater and freshwater habitats. Guests can walk through the middle, observing corals living on one side and freshwater fish habitat on the other. New periscopes and towering viewing windows will let guests investigate fish nests, anemones and more.

The Shedd Aquarium released plans to significantly upgrade many of its exhibits, gardens and learning spaces by 2027. Read more here.
