SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There’s going to be a big concert this weekend at the Military Heritage Alliance in Sioux Falls that will feature all local singers.

But the best part, besides having a lot of fun, you’ll be helping a good cause; Honor Flight.

“So this is our annual fundraiser for the Midwest Honor Flight,” Elvis impersonator Zon Tran said.

For five years, a group of local singers have been putting on a show to help raise money to send area veterans to Washington DC on Honor Flight.

“You know we started with Elvis until I hurt my hip in the last show, so now we are veering off toward many many more artists,” Tran said.

Artists like Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Chuck Berry.

For a lot of the singers who will be performing that night, they say this is one way they can give back.

John Mogen of Mogen’s Heroes is one of the performers.

“I grew up in a patriotic family, my dad was a World War II Vet and if you can do anything to honor the soldiers, we’ll do it,” Mogen said.

“So I go to a lot of nursing homes and sing and I run into a lot of veterans and many of them tell me they never really had closure, so when I ran into this project called Midwest Honor Flight fundraiser I heard they needed some entertainers locally, so I put together a bunch of local entertainers to help out with this event, it really touched my heart, in fact, I got this hat from a vet who passed away and I always wear this during the event,” Tran said.

An event where fun meets fundraising.

“It’ll be fun, and hopefully it’ll be packed,” Mogen said.

The concert is this Saturday from 7-10 pm. There’s also an online silent auction, click here to place a bid.
