SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Sioux Falls Police are looking for the second person linked to the shooting in Dunham Park, Lt. Aaron Nyberg said at Monday’s police briefing.

Last week, two men were indicted and warrants were issued in connection with the August shooting. On Friday, police arrested 32-year-old Walter DeShawn Stewart. They are still looking for 28-year-old Lamont Burks Jr.

Burks is described as a 6-foot-3 male, 210 pounds, African American and a Sioux Falls resident. He is considered armed and dangerous and the public should not approach him, Nyberg said.

Nyberg was unable to say whether Burks is still in the Minnehaha County area.

Both men are charged with one count of Murder in the First Degree, one count of Attempted Murder of the First Degree and two counts of Aggravated Assault.

The shooting occurred Sunday afternoon on August 25 in Dunham Park. Police say there was a gathering of at least 10 people when a dispute escalated. There were at least two guns present and premeditation involved, Nyberg said.

Three people were injured in the altercation and Josh Allen Jr, 29, was killed.

Nyberg is unable to talk about the relationships between the suspects, victims and witnesses, or what Stewart and Burks’ motivation was.

Stewart was arrested at approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 15. He is being held on $1,000,000 cash-only bond.

In September, the family of Allen shared their frustration with KELOLAND News over the investigation.
