SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — The intersection of West 41st Street and Sertoma Avenue remains closed for a crash investigation after a pedestrian sustained “serious injuries,” according to a news release from the Sioux Falls Police Department.
The intersection is across from Roosevelt High School. Kuehn Park Road is also closed.
New information from SFPD says a red Toyota Rav 4 SUV had been driving eastbound through Sertoma Ave, occupied by three juveniles just after 8:00 a.m. A Subaru Crosstrek was traveling westbound and turned south in front of the oncoming Toyota. A collision occurred in the intersection and the vehicles came to rest on the southeast corner, striking a pedestrian on that corner. The pedestrian sustained serious injuries.
A passenger in the Toyota sustained serious injuries. The remaining occupants and drivers sustained minor injuries. The circumstances of what led to the crash are still unknown and
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and to find another route. It is unknown when it will re-open, SFPD said it could be “well into the afternoon,” before re-opening.
