SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — New Year’s Eve is a time when many people stay up until midnight to ring in the new year. It’s also a time when many people partake in alcoholic drinks with friends and family.

‘kRav’N Bar and Grill’ stays pretty busy during the holiday season.

“They come here, they like to drink, to eat, have a good time. We like to provide that service for them,” Server/Bartender, Madisyn Rowley said.

With New Year’s Eve just a day away, many of those people will be consuming alcoholic drinks. While the restaurant is happy to serve you, they’re also concerned with how people get home after drinking. That’s why they started a new system last year.

“After 8:00, you show us that you have the Uber or Lyft coming, and we can tell that, you know, we can we have a system, a red light, green light, yellow light system that we follow behind the bar. And if you’re in that yellow light, we’re going to go ahead and give you a $10 bill towards that Lyft or Uber to get you home safely,” Fonder Properties director of operations, Jesse Severson said.

However, you can’t just show up for a $10 bill.

“We want you to come in, have some food, have a couple of drinks, and let us get you home safely,” Severson said.

Helping everyone ring in 2025, safely.

“You don’t want to harm yourself or others, you don’t want to affect somebody’s life and your life,” Rowley said.

“Make sure you eat something, make sure you eat something to help you make better decisions and get a ride home. Whether it’s through our program or through a sober driver friend, don’t be that guy that says, Oh, I can drive. Because when you have to say that to yourself, you probably can’t,” Severson said.

This program will be running at both kRav’N and Barrel House on New Year’s Eve after 8 PM.
