SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Colder weather is on the horizon, which makes business tough for food trucks.
One Sioux Falls truck has decided to make its presence more permanent going into the winter months.
Taqueria la Jarochita has been around Sioux Falls since 2021.
“The food truck was originally my dad’s idea. You want to start up a food truck, you know, sell tacos and food to the community of Sioux Falls,” Emilio Gonzalez Jr. said.
Instead of the road, you can now find the family business at a new storefront.
“Once we saw the place, we wanted to pick it up and start a little dining room area,” Emilio said.
In the dining area, people can find everything they love about the food truck, from the warmth of a building.
“We like to be open all year round, especially because in the conditions, weather conditions, our customers sometimes wouldn’t like sitting outside, and they can just be more comfortable here,” Magaly Gonzalez said.
Offering a variety of homemade recipes from their mother.
“We have burritos, tacos, quesadillas, sopas and tortas and a lot of people like to order the steak burritos. That’s one of our most famous items,” Magaly said.
While they are excited about their dining room, the food truck is going to remain a vital part of the operation.
“We do all the cooking in the food truck, all the prepping in the food truck, and here we just pass the food over to my sister and she’ll pass it over to the customers,” Emilio said.
Combining 4 wheels and 4 walls for a warmer dining experience ahead of the cold months.
Along with homemade food, the restaurant also has homemade horchata.
