SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls Christian got their revenge Saturday, claiming a 61-51 win over Hamlin in the class ‘A’ state championship.
The Chargers were undefeated entering last year’s state title, when Hamlin upset SFC to win the championship.
That wouldn’t happen this year.
Jude VanDonkersgoed scored his only points of the game at the buzzer in the first quarter. He hit a three pointer, giving Sioux Falls Christian the 12-9 lead.
Hamlin tied the game at 14, but then Christian went on a 10-0 run to pull ahead for good.
The lead got as small as a couple scores, but Christian finished strong earning the ten point win.
SDSU commit Griffen Goodbary had a career night, posting a double-double of 32 points and 15 rebounds. Brant Wassenaar added 11 as the only other player in double figures.
Jackson Wadsworth led the scoring for Hamlin with 18 points.
The state title is Sioux Falls Christian’s first since 2021 and third overall.
