STORRS, CT (KELO) — The SDSU women shot 60% in the third quarter to surge in front for good as the Jackrabbits knocked off Oklahoma State, 74-68 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The victory marks the Jackrabbits’ sixth NCAA Tournament win. It’s also their second ever 30 win season.

SDSU will now play UConn in the second round on Monday night.

The Jackrabbits struggled early in the game, specifically in the second quarter. State scored just nine points and went on a long scoring drought, falling behind by as many as 11.

Then came the third quarter surge.

Brooklyn Meyer and Madison Mathiowetz each scored nine points in the third, while SDSU shot 60% and scored 28 points to take a lead.

SDSU grew that lead to eight with 5:30 to play in the game, but Oklahoma State wasn’t going away easily.

The Cowgirls closed the gap down to three, but that’s as close as it got.

Oklahoma State went on a three minute field goal drought, allowing SDSU to push the lead to seven at 69-62.

Four players scored in double figures for SDSU, led by Brookyln Meyer. She scored 13 points in the second half on her way to a 19 point performance. Paige Meyer added 16, while Madison Mathiowetz posted 15 and Haleigh Timmer 11.

Five scored in double figures for Oklahoma State in the loss.
