MANILA, Philippines—Janelle Frayna and Shaina Mendoza settled for silver in the women’s chess team blitz of the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Saturday at Quang Ninh Exhibition of Urban Planning & Expo in Vietnam.

Frayna and Mendoza got a 1-1 result in round 5 as Malaysia’s Rifqah Fahada and Munajjah Azzahraa nabbed the gold medal in the competition.

Frayna also got two bronze medals from the women’s individual blitz and in the team rapid event with her partner, Marie Antoinette San Diego.

Meanwhile, Daniel Quizon and Emmanuel Garcia copped bronze in the men’s team blitz.

Quizon and Garcia also fell to a 1-1 result in the fifth round, handing the silver to Susanto Megaranto and Muhammad Lutfi Ali of Indonesia.

The national team had two silver medals, including the men’s team rapid second-place finish by Paulo Bersamina and Darwin Laylo, and four bronze medals.
