PHNOM PENH—Precious Cabuya ruled the women’s individual event in obstacle racing on Saturday, claiming the third gold medal for Team Philippines at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games here.

The 32-year-old Cabuya completed the 100-meter course in 32.72 seconds, beating Kaizen dela Serna (35.52) in an all-Filipino final.

“We just motivated each other and ran our best,” said Cabuya after capturing her first gold in the biennial meet as a rookie.

“It’s hard for us [to battle each other for the gold] because we’re teammates. We were both nervous. But at least we were both able to give a medal to the country.”

The Philippines hiked its medal collection to 3 golds, 3 silver and 3 bronzes and will add another sure gold in the men’s 100m later on.
