SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A 24-year-old South Dakota State University student faces state and federal child pornography charges.
Jaykob Varner is facing 11 counts of possession of child pornography and 1 count of sexual exploitation of a minor in Brookings County. According to court documents, Varner is taking online classes from SDSU and lived in a dorm but his permanent address is Las Vegas.
According to court documents, Varner posed as someone named ‘Katherine’ on Snapchat and got a 14-year-old girl in Louisiana to send him a nude picture. Once he got a nude picture from her he threatened to tell her mother unless he got 10 more.
He’s charged with child pornography and cyberstalking in Federal Court.
He pleaded not guilty to the federal charges on Tuesday.
