STORRS, CT (KELO) — SDSU made the trip east Thursday afternoon, arriving in the Hartford area just before 6:00 local time, and hope to stay until early next week.
“Definitely something we don’t take for granted and we realise a lot of teams don’t get to do it looking at all division one schools,” SDSU senior Mesa Byom said.
The Jackrabbits enter the tournament fresh off three consecutive wins at the Summit League Tournament, and haven’t lost a game since last December.
SDSU is the 10-seed in the bracket and will play number seven Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon.
The Cowgirls are 25-6 on the season and finished 14-4 in the Big 12, not bad for a team that was picked to finish eleventh in the league’s preseason poll.
“They play really fast, they have a lot of athleticism on their team, they have some size, and they also shoot the ball really well so I think it will be important for us to kind of contain them in transition and get out to shooters,” SDSU redshirt junior Haleigh Timmer said.
SDSU will meet with the media Friday afternoon beginning at 2:45 central time, followed by practice at 3:30.
The game is set for 2:30 central time Saturday in Storrs, Connecticut, with the winner advancing on to round two on Monday. We’ll have complete coverage of the Jacks’ tournament run both on-air and online.
