SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Christmas store in southeastern South Dakota will be featured on CBS Mornings on Monday, Dec. 16.

Nora Store used to be a country store back in its day, but now it’s a place for people all over the region to come sing Christmas carols.

KELOLAND’s Chief Photographer Kevin Kjergaard went down to the store to film a story for CBS’s David Begnaud. The story will air on Monday morning.

Mike Pedersen, who owns the store, started the holiday tradition along with his pipe organ back in 1989. KELOLAND News has done multiple stories with Pedersen and the Nora Store over the years.

“My joy is when this thing is packed out with people and people are people are singing their hearts out,” Pedersen said in a 2019 story. “And everybody feels like their somebody at Nora.”

The store near Alcester, S.D. opened for the season Dec. 6. They’ll be open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December.

“I like ‘Joy to the World’ and ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ and know it all,” 8-year-old Avery Kotalik said for a recent KELOLAND News story.

Kotalik and a group of other students and their parents from Missouri Valley Christian Academy of Yankton made the 45-minute drive in early December.
