SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A Sioux Falls native was involved with a chief pinning ceremony for the U.S. Navy on the Philippine Sea last week
U.S. Navy Chief Mass Communication Specialist Chris Williamson sang “Anchors Aweigh,” the Naval Academy fight song, with the other officers during the pinning ceremony aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt on Friday, September 27.
During the pinning ceremony, military personnel are appointed to Chief Petty Officers where they take on additional leadership roles.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt is a flagship of Carrier Strike Group 9 for the Navy and is currently operating in the 7th Fleet area of operations, which includes the Philippine Sea.
