Madison, Wis. – School Choice Wisconsin supports LRB 0976, a bill in the legislature introduced by Sen. John Jagler (R-Watertown) and Rep. Bob Wittke (R-Caledonia).
“LRB 0976 allows Wisconsin families to make meaningful year-to-year comparisons of students’ performance. Comparable year-to-year results are essential to understand whether students are experiencing growth in achievement,” said School Choice Wisconsin President Nicholas Kelly. “This bill will also allow the results of Wisconsin students to be compared with the respected national NAEP standards, directly showing where Wisconsin kids line up with kids from around the country.”
This legislation restores the criteria by which DPI measures and reports academic achievement to that used in 2019-20. This includes reporting results consistent with standards used by the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP).
