SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Extended holiday hours are now in effect at Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls. Skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The tubing hill is open for the first time this season from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Terry Peak Ski Area in the Northern Black Hills has limited terrain for skiers and snowboarders. The hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mountain Time.

Kids can tell Santa Claus their wish list and take photos from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the third floor lobby of the Washington Pavilion. Santa will be taking a lunch break from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

Kids can visit Santa Claus at Lewis Drug stores today. Santa will be at the Lewis at 69th & Louise from 9 a.m. to noon. Then, he’s off to the Lewis at 32nd & Ellis Road from 2-5 p.m.

The Buck Before Christmas features bull riding action in the Expo Center of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Gates open at 5 p.m. The bull riding starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20, free for ages 10 and under.

The 1880 Train Holiday Express takes passengers on a one-hour round trip from Hill City, SD to the North Pole. The train trips run from 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Mountain Time. Santa will board the train and passengers can enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and a sugar cookie.

Christmas at the Capitol features nearly 100 decorated trees inside the capitol building in Pierre. It’s open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through December 26th, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Admission is free.

Winter Wonderland features more than 25 miles of lights and other holiday decorations on display at Falls Park. The lights are on from 5 pm. to midnight through January 5th. Admission is free.

The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is hosting an open house at their club building on the north side of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. You can check out South Dakota’s largest permanent model railroad from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday. Admission is free.

Open skating sessions at the SCHEELS IcePlex in Sioux Falls are 1-3 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children. Skate rentals are $4.

Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life, both rated PG and Love Actually, rated R.

The Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium at the Washington Pavilion features Experience the Aurora, The Grinch, Polar Express and T-Rex.

New movie releases playing at a theater near you include Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Mufasa: The Lion King, both rated PG plus Homestead, rated PG-13.

The University of Iowa men’s basketball team takes on the University of Utah at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Fall. Tip-off is at 5:05 p.m.
