SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s the first full day of the Sioux Empire Fair at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds in Sioux Falls. Activities include an open-class swine show at 10 a.m., carnival rides starting at noon, an open-class sheep show at 3 p.m., an open-class goat show at 5 p.m. The grandstand entertainment features The Fury with special guest Kory & the Fireflies at 7:30 p.m. Fair admission is $10, $5 for children and free for ages 5 and under. The grandstand show is free with a paid admission. The fair runs daily through August 10th.
Activities at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally include the Mayor’s Pub Crawl beginning at 7 p.m. Mountain Time. Musical entertainment includes Thunderstruck at the Buffalo Chip Campground, The Kentucky Headhunters at the Full Throttle Saloon, Tech N9ne at the Iron Horse Saloon, and Nate Botsford at the Harley-Davidson Rally Point.
The Sioux River Folk Festival at Newton Hills State Park near Canton, SD includes live music throughout the day starting at noon. Tickets are $30. Kids under 14 get in free.
Enjoy live music in downtown Sioux Falls at Levitt at the Falls. Local kids entertainer Phil Baker performs at 10:30 a.m. Tonight’s headliner is Arlinda Peacock with opening act Nadjah Nicole. The music starts at 7 p.m.
Bluestone Federal Credit Union is hosting a Backyard Bash at Sioux Falls Stadium. Activities include a cornhole tournament from 2-5 p.m. Bounce houses and kids activities from 2-7 p.m. and a showing of the movie, The Sandlot, at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
The Roosevelt High School Band is hosting a Car Wash to raise money for new instruments and uniforms, plus travel expenses. 100 band members will be washing car cars from 9 a.m. to noon in the high school parking lot. A minimum $5 donation is appreciated. Sodak Soda, across the street from Roosevelt, will donate 15-percent of all sales to the band, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Beaver Days in Beaver Creek, MN include a parade at 10 a.m., a vendor fair starting at 10:30 p.m., duck races at 3 p.m. and a street dance 7:30 p.m.
Farmers Market season in KELOLAND includes the Falls Park Farmers Market at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Brandon Farmers Market goes from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 925 North Splitrock Boulevard. The farmers markets are held each Saturday through October.
Beat the summer heat with a visit to one of the City of Sioux Falls’ outdoor pools. They’re located at Drake Springs, Terrace, Frank Olson, Kuehn, Laurel Oak, McKennan, Hayward and Pioneer parks. The hours are 1-8 p.m.
Another outdoor option is Wild Water West water park, west of Sioux Falls. Visitors can enjoy the water slides, lazy river, wave pool plus upgrades to the mini-golf course from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include The Sandlot, rated PG, plus Dandelion and Purple Rain, both rated R.

Enjoy a night of sprint car racing at I-90 Speedway in Hartford, SD. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15, $6 for students, free for ages 12 and under.
