MADISON, WI — Alexia Sabor, an environmental science professional, project manager, and community leader, who currently serves as Chair of the Democratic Party of Dane County, announced today her campaign for Wisconsin Secretary of State.

“My parents taught me early on that when you’re faced with a problem, you roll up your sleeves and get to work fixing it,” said Sabor. “I’ve always known the right to cast your ballot in a fair election was a cornerstone of our democracy, and I’m running to make sure our democracy survives.”

For the last fifteen years, Alexia has been a project manager for a nonprofit organization and a tech company. Before that, she worked for many years as a researcher and data manager for the university and state government. Alexia is a graduate of the Emerge Wisconsin program, and a volunteer board member for the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health. She has earned four degrees, including a Ph.D. in Forest Ecology & Management.

“We can’t let our democracy be undermined,” said Sabor. “The people of Wisconsin want to continue our state’s proud tradition of letting voters choose their leaders instead of having leaders choose their voters.

“I will work to expand the reach of this office by increasing civic engagement through education,” said Sabor. “And I will ensure that we make smart, sustainable decisions about resources managed through the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands.

“Wisconsin families deserve a Secretary of State who will roll up her sleeves and work to return our state to the days when we were a laboratory for democracy and a political model for the nation,” said Sabor. “I’m ready to be that leader.”

Sabor and her husband Scott, a native Wisconsinite whose family originally hails from Florence County, currently live in Madison with their high school-aged daughter and their rescue dog, Blue.
