PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. — Traffic has come to a standstill in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 after a semi rolled over Tuesday night in Putnam County.

According to Sgt. Matt Ames with the ISP Putnamville post, troopers responded to I-70 WB near the 35-mile marker after a semi was involved in an accident and rolled over, covering both lanes of the interstate. This area is located to the west of the Cloverdale Exit.

As of this article’s publication, ISP has not confirmed if any other vehicles were involved or provided the condition of the individual operating the semi.

Ames urged drivers in the area to “expect long delays” as emergency crews arrived on the scene to begin clearing the accident.

For now, traffic is being diverted off at the 41-mile marker at the Cloverdale Exit, with motorists being instructed to travel northward on US 231 to US 40 and then west toward Brazil.

After reaching Brazil, drivers are instructed to turn south onto State Road 59 to enter I-70 again.

This is a developing story. Check back here for more updates.
