CHICAGO – Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, declaring herself “once a nurse, always a nurse,” touted Kamala Harris’ as a fighter for health care freedom.
In a 2-minute speech at the Democratic National Convention, the former registered nurse and state lawmaker knocked Donald Trump for failing to protect Americans from the pandemic, “promising to terminate the Affordable Care Act” and “meddling in personal decisions between a woman and doctor.”
But Harris, she said, “fights for our health” and a “healthy future.”
Added Rodriguez: “She’ll defend women’s reproductive freedom and protect Medicare and Medicaid. Thanks to the Biden-Harris administration, insulin is capped at $35 a month for seniors. And they negotiated down the prices of 10 more life-saving drugs. …Kamala will continue to take on Big Pharma and lower the cost of prescriptions for everyone.”
The lieutenant governor said health care is about more than drugs and treatment.
“It’s about freedom. The freedom to make your own choices. And the freedom to get the care you need without worrying about the cost.”
