Some areas of Jackson are experiencing low water pressure due to mechanical issues at the O.B. Curtis Water Plant in Ridgeland, Jackson officials said in a Tuesday morning press statement.

“City workers are currently troubleshooting one of the plant’s raw water pumps,” city officials said. “The mechanical issue could affect residents in the Jackson area, Merit Health Central, Jackson State University and Forest Hill.”

It is unclear how long the low water pressure issue might last. However, while the issue is being fixed, Jackson is distributing bottled water at Fire Station #1 (Headquarters) at 555 S. West St. in Jackson.

A boil water notice is in effect for parts of the city of Pearl. Water must be boiled for one minute before consumption.

“The water will be provided by Premium Waters, Inc. of Byram. Water bottles will be limited to one case per vehicle will be distributed,” officials said.
