BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO) — SDSU football head coach Jimmy Rogers is leaving Brookings to take the head coaching job at Washington State, according to a report from ESPN.

There is no official announcement from SDSU at this moment.

He spent two seasons leading the Jackrabbits and went 27-3. In year one, the Jacks went a perfect 15-0 and claimed their second straight FCS national title. In year two, State went 12-3 and lost to NDSU in the semifinals.

An alum of SDSU, he returned to Brookings in 2013 to serve as an assistant on John Stiegelmeier’s defensive staff. He served as the team’s sole defensive coordinator in 2022 before assuming the head coaching responsibilities.

The Arizona native tallied 312 tackles over his four seasons in uniform and led the team in that category twice. He also intercepted three passes and recovered three fumbles.

Washington State finished this season 8-5 and lost to No. 21 Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl Friday.
