MADISON – Today, Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) released the following statement on Governor Evers creating the Wisconsin Office of Violence Prevention:

“I applaud Governor Evers in the creation of the Office of Violence Prevention and am grateful for the leadership he has shown on this critical issue. Every day, people in our community are impacted by domestic violence, suicide, and safety in our schools.

“Last session I co-authored bills that addressed bipartisan concerns around school safety, gun safety, and mental health because Wisconsinites should not have to worry about the safety of their loved ones in school or in our communities. With the creation of the Office of Violence Prevention, we will continue our commitment to improving community safety, preventing gun violence, and breaking the cycle of violence in our state. I am looking forward to working with Governor Evers, the Office of Violence Prevention, and my legislative colleagues on meaningful violence prevention legislation this session.”
