MADISON – State Representative Elijah Behnke (R-Oconto) released the following statement in response to the United States Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade today:
“What a historic day it is! The Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, the case that had been a stain on our nation for almost 50 years. Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion law is now back in effect, making it illegal to perform an abortion in our state, except to save the life of the mother.
“Today, life wins. I thank the brave Supreme Court justices who stood for what is right and refused to back down. But above all, praise God for this monumental day!”
