SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – If you’re looking to update your wardrobe for winter but don’t want to spend too much money, the EmBe Women’s closet sale this weekend might be something to check out.

“We’ve gotten such a surge of clothing donations that we’ve been able to be really selective and able to keep the quality items, the name-brand items,” Courtney Hardie, EmBe Women’s Program Manager, said. “So things you’ll find on the sale are things, you know, tailored towards this cooler weather that we’re having — sweaters, Christmas sweaters, jackets, coats.”

Some of the items are name-brand, but the prices are not.

“So you’re able to come in and get a shirt and get pants and everything is under $10, most items are,” Hardie said.

Not only does shopping all of the clothes hit the checkmark for sustainable thrifting and saving a little extra money, it also all goes towards a good cause.

“This is our last major fundraiser for our women’s programs for this year,” Hardie said. “So it’s really imperative that we get as many people as we can there because this will determine whether or not we have the sufficient funds from this year to fund our programming.”

That programming helps local women thrive in many areas, from finding the right outfit for an interview to better understanding their finances.

“The women that we serve are mothers, they’re daughters, they’re sisters, they’re co-workers,” Hardie said. “So being able to personalize those people that we’re helping and just say, by you shopping and getting a good deal, you’re also being able to help fellow people in your community.”

The closet sale is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. A bag sale will take place on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 3 where you can come to the closet sale, fill a large bag with whatever you want and pay just $35.
