The driver of a stolen red Toyota Prius led authorities on a reckless pursuit in the San Fernando Valley Thursday night.
San Fernando Police initiated the pursuit just after 7 p.m. after the driver refused to pull over.
The vehicle was driven with a crashed windshield after the driver reached a dead end in an industrial area in Arleta and drove through a yellow gate.
The beat-up red Prius reached speeds of over 100 mph on the freeway, having multiple close calls with other vehicles.
The pursuit ended in a gated residential area in Sunland where the suspect was able to get inside and initiate a foot race with officers.
The driver was arrested, and booked for having an outstanding felony warrant, reckless driving, and evading the police.
The red Prius was part of an earlier chase that officers in patrol SUVs pulled off of due to safety, the LAPD confirms.
