RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) — A Rapid City man is in federal prison following a charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.

U.S. Attorney Alison J, Ramsdell announced Sunday that Marvin Brings Plenty, age 34, was convicted of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. He will spend four years and three months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Brings Plenty was indicted for Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person by a federal grand
jury in December of 2023. He pleaded guilty on April 24, 2024.

In October of 2023, Brings Plenty, a previously convicted felon who is prohibited
from possessing firearms, was found to be in possession of a Tisa-Trabzon, Luger caliber, 9mm
semi-automatic pistol and a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber, semi-automatic pistol after a search
warrant was executed at his home.

Brings Plenty was also a user of methamphetamine and fentanyl during the time he possessed the firearms.

The investigation began when law enforcement learned Brings Plenty was distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl from his residence. Law enforcement executed a search warrant at his home where drugs, distribution material, and the two firearms were recovered.
