Great weather for the Monumental Marathon runners in downtown Indy this Saturday morning. Cloud cover is increasing, temperatures are comfy and there is a slight wind! During our morning show, our cameras even caught our own Eric Graves running the marathon. The mild temperatures will continue Saturday with an increase in clouds. Highs around 60° are on tap and that’s 5° above normal.
Next system brings rain
Luckily, rain will hold off until very late Saturday evening with the first showers entering the region just before Midnight. The activity will be scattered with some downpours being possible. While month-to-date is in a rainfall surplus, this rain is still needed. The greatest coverage will be overnight into early Sunday morning. Click the slideshow below to see a forecast on timing.
When all is said and done, some spots will receive decent rain totals. I’m thinking we’ll stay under an inch with the heavier downpours producing isolated amounts of around 0.5-0.75″ of rain. Once that’s done, skies will quickly clear for the afternoon Sunday. If you’re heading to the Colts home game, a few showers will linger for tailgating but the sun will begin to shine by the early afternoon. Because of that quick clearing, temperatures could approach 70° in a few spots.
Not only is it one of the warmest falls on record, it’s also one of the warmest year to dates on record! The extended mild stretch is not done with above normal temperatures continuing. The warmest days will be Sunday and then again Wednesday. Forecast highs will be in the upper 60s with several spots potentially hitting 70°. Numbers like this are 10-15° above average for this time of the year. We’ll remain dry until another storm system Wednesday which will bring rain late.
That same front will drop temperatures a bit on Thursday. However, it won’t be a big drop because the forecast calls for highs in the 50s Thursday. That’s normal for this time of the year! Above-normal temperatures are still favored in the forecast heading into the second half of November across Central Indiana.
