The victim of a fatal shooting that occurred at 7:15 p.m., on Saturday southwest of Sedona has been identified as 53-year-old David Chesney of Queen Creek.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) deputies were dispatched to what was originally thought to be shots fired in the area of Red Rock
Crossing in Sedona. When deputies reached the scene, they found Mr. Chesney deceased and two others being detained by Sedona Police Department officers.

Details of what occurred are still under investigation by YCSO detectives, but it was reported that Mr. Chesney fired shots into a trailer home where another man and his wife were staying, and that he also pointed a gun at the wife. The other man involved stated he then shot Mr. Chesney. The relationship between the two men, and what prompted the confrontation is not currently known.
