MANILA, Philippines — The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) has moved the opening date of Invitationals from July 2 to July 9, as requested by its participating teams.

The league on Wednesday announced the new opening date of the mid-season offering, giving the seven club teams more time to prepare for the inaugural Invitational conference of the professional volleyball league.

Reigning Open Conference champion Creamline, which swept the first of three tournaments scheduled this year, will lead the seven-team field also composed of Petro Gazz, Chery Tiggo, Cignal, Choco Mucho, Army Black Mamba, and PLDT.

The PVL announced on Monday that F2 Logistics and Balipure opted to skip the Invitationals.

The seven local squads will clash in a single round-robin, as the top four teams will advance to the next round

Two Asian teams, Kobe Shinwa Women’s University of Japan and Taipei King Whales, will join the semifinals starting on August 29.

The local teams will first play among each other in the semis before the break to give way to the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team training in preparation for the AVC (Asian Women’s Volleyball Cup) 2022 on Aug. 21-28.
