INDIANAPOLIS — More students who are studying at the Purdue University campus in Indianapolis will be able to stay in student housing.
According to a news release from the university, trustees from Purdue University approved the funding for a new set of student housing in the 500 block of Indiana Avenue. The total lease commitment for the site will be $28,095,222 and will be funded by auxiliary funds – housing/dining.
This comes after the university launched its Indianapolis campus on July 1. According to its website, the new campus was Purdue’s portion of the former Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus.
Purdue University’s Indianapolis campus is aimed to be “an innovative, STEM-based collegiate experience by connecting future-ready Purdue students and faculty in Indianapolis to local businesses to accelerate Indiana’s STEM pipeline and tech ecosystem, fueling impact for central Indiana and the world,” according to the website.
The new student housing will include 427 beds in 159 apartment units for the 2026-31 academic years. The website said the Purdue Research Foundation will execute the lease with Arrow Street Development and it will be assigned to the university after required approvals are made.
On Friday, trustees with Purdue University also gave approval to plan, finance, construct and award construction contracts for buildings on its West Lafayette Campus, including the Mathematical Sciences Building Data Center and the Biochemistry Building Office of the State Chemist Lab.
