SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Millennium Recycling on the north side of Sioux Falls has announced the closure of its free public recycling drop-off bin at the end of the year.
“Unfortunately, increasing issues with illegal dumping and contamination have made it difficult to maintain the service,” the center said in a news release.
The center cited costs for removing trash and contamination as a driving factor for closing the public bin.
“The drop-off site was created to encourage responsible recycling in the community, but it has become a dumping ground for non-recyclable trash,” said Shannon Dwire, President of Millennium Recycling in a news release.
