Rianne Malixi will see action in an Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament for the first time this week as she touches off a string of stints in big-time events that will be highlighted by a campaign in the British Women’s Amateur in England in two weeks.
Accepting an invite coursed through the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA), which ranks the 16-year-old Filipino No. 2 behind Gianna Clemente of the United States, Malixi will play in the $2.75 million Mizuho Americas Open alongside the top players in the world including No. 1 Jin Young Ko of Korea.
“Playing an LPGA event alongside the top pros would be a great opportunity for me to learn and gain experience,” said the ICTSI-backed Malixi.
Malixi is gearing up for a campaign in the US Women’s Open eliminations slated to start June 7 in Chicago.
After that, the Filipino star is also set to compete in the British Women’s Amateur on June 13 to June 18.
There will be a total of 24 AJGA standouts playing alongside 120 of the finest pros in the 72-hole championship.
This marks the first time the LPGA and the AJGA have partnered to showcase the current stars competing with the future of the sport, paving the way for an unprecedented week of learning and access to inspire the next generation of LPGA Tour players.
