SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — KELOLAND News is unveiling more numbers from our scientific polling we did this week with Emerson College Polling and The Hill.

According to our KELOLAND News poll, voters have a lot on their minds this election year, and as you’re about to see the No. 1 issue probably won’t surprise anyone.

We asked voters what they think is the most important issue facing South Dakota.

“I think people are thinking about the economy and I think people are thinking about democracy, those two things would be on our mind,” Chez Tschetter said.

“Women’s health issues is the No. 1 issue I’m concerned with right now,” a voter said.

“I think it’s important for young women to have the freedom to make their own decisions about their own health care between themselves and the physician,” Dr. Mick Hurley said.

“The No. 1? Hmmm (Amendment) G, G, abortion,” a voter said.

According to our scientific poll, health care came in with 8%, crime was 3%, housing 8%, abortion access 11% and immigration 8%. But as you can see on the right side of your screen, an overwhelming number of you, 42%, believe the economy, jobs, inflation and taxes are the most important.

“It’s a little bit of everything, got to get everything back in line, can’t afford food anymore hardly, just a lot of different things,” Mike Sievers said.

Our poll has a plus or minus 3.3% margin of error. You can find a full breakdown of the polling from Emerson College, KELOLAND Media Group and The Hill in two KELOLAND.com Original’s by Rae Yost.
