A pedestrian died after a hit-and-run collision Wednesday night in the central valley, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 11:15 p.m. on Sahara Avenue, east of Chapman Drive, police said.

The pedestrian, a male who has not been identified, was outside a marked crosswalk on Sahara when he was hit by a newer four-door sedan driving east, police said.

The pedestrian, who was not identified, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The vehicle failed to remain at the scene and was last seen headed east on Sahara, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
