SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities in southern Indiana have located human remains in the same location where a missing mother of three was last seen before her disappearance in September.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and detectives with the Indiana State Police found skeletal remains while searching a wooded property on Nov. 12.

SCSO said the property was in the same area where Amanda Martin, a mother of three who was reported missing on Sept. 24, was last seen. According to previous reports, Martin was last heard from near the Frog Pond Road area in eastern Scott County. Police reported that Martin’s family had last spoken to her on Sept. 13.

As of early November, deputies were continuing to search for Martin. The missing woman’s family also announced a reward worth $1,500 for anyone who could provide information that could lead to her known location.

Police described Martin as a 5-foot, 130-pound woman sporting long brown hair.

SCSO said detectives recovered the remains and are working to provide an identification and exact cause of death. The results of the forensic examination will be available in around six to eight weeks.

Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin said they would continue investigating all available leads to reach a “factual conclusion.”

“We are saddened by the discovery of the remains discovered yesterday, but we also realize a family can now possibly begin to heal,” Goodin said. “This is an active investigation, and I personally appreciate the help from our law enforcement partners. Together, we continue to seek a factual conclusion about what happened here. I want to ask if you have any information that would help us with this investigation, please give us a call.”

Anyone with information related to the case is asked to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 812-752-5550 or 911.
