On Dec. 4, 1981, investigators raided the home of James and LeAnn Lewis, which also housed their tax business, in connection with a credit card scam. The warrant allowed the authorities to take typewriting devices and paperwork that included names of known victims. Photographs of the raid obtained by the Tribune show a cluttered home crammed with papers and books.
