SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The 2025 Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle is just around the corner and KELOLAND News has a first look at this season’s selections.

According to Downtown Sioux Falls, the 12th Annual Burger Battle is sponsored by POET and there are 40 participating businesses in this year’s contest. You can find photos and descriptions of this year’s entities in the slideshow below.

There’s 32 photos of burgers for 40 of the participating businesses, others will be added once they are posted by DTSF.

Crawford’s was awarded the winner in 2024 and 2023. Previous winners include Chef Lance’s on Phillips in 2022, Papa Woody’s in 2021, Parker’s Bistro in 2020.

Last year, DTSF said the competition sold more than 76,000 burgers and brought in more than $2.4 million in econcomic impact.

Here’s a look at this year’s burgers.

Blarney Stone Limerick Burger:
An 8 oz. Burger Patty on Marbled Rye Bread with a dollop of French Onion spread,
topped with Au Jus basted Caramelized Onions, Muenster Cheese & Red Pepper Jelly.
Served with Baked Beans.

Bibisol “I’m in America, I should be able to get a burger here” Smash Burger:
Classic Double smash grass fed local beef patties, sharp yellow cheddar, onion,
secret sauce, pickles, butter buns, served with a side of our Salsa Macha Wedges
topped with scallion, cilantro, cotija, and a side of garlic aioli.

Big Sioux Burger The Elvis Midnight Snack:
The King may be best known for his music, but you can’t deny his critical culinary
acclaim, the fried peanut butter, bacon and banana sandwich. You’ll be All Shook Up
with our house-blend beef smash patties, American cheese, Peanut aioli, jalapeño
jam, banana, bacon, and a sunnyside up egg, all served on a butter croissant.
This flavor bomb is perfect any time of day and is sure to be named The King of the
2025 Burger Battle.

Boki European Street Food The Gyro Inferno Burger:
1/2lbs Fresh Angus Beef. This burger blends Mediterranean flair with bold heat,
featuring savory gyro meat, smoky paprika cheese, sweet and spicy pepper jelly,
pickled peppers, and caramelized onions. Topped with three distinct dressings, and
fresh cut fries. It’s a fusion of global flavors with a fiery, gourmet edge. Perfectly
balanced and unforgettable!

Bread & Circus Sweet Chili Bacon Cheeseburger:
6oz certified angus beef patty with 5-spice bacon, house made sweet chili sauce,
miso cream cheese, winter greens between a Look’s Bakehouse sesame seed bun.
Served with a side of sea salt kettle chips.

The Cattitude Cafe Purr-fect Ahi Tuna Burger:
Savor the delicious blend of flavors with our Purr-fect Ahi Tuna Burger. It begins
with a toasted jalapeno bun, slathered in spicy mayo for a zesty kick. Mounted on
a crisp bed of romaine, followed by a juicy slice of tomato. The star of the dish is
a perfectly marinated yellow fin patty, top with vibrant pickled slaw, adding a
tangy crunch that ties it all together. Paired with a refreshing side of cucumber salad.

Chef Lance on Phillips Chef Lance’s Cuban Burger:
8 oz Certified Angus Patty, topped with Slow Roasted Pulled Pork, Raspberry
Poblano BBQ Sauce, Pickles, Shoulder Bacon, Swiss Cheese and Dijon Mayo
on a toasted Breadsmith Onion Bun. Served with House fries and a Mojo
Dipping sauce.

CRAVE Island Paradise Burger:
Indulge in our mouthwatering Angus beef patty, perfectly grilled to juicy
perfection and topped with a rich, homemade bacon jam that offers a sweet
and smoky depth of flavor. A zesty lime aioli drizzles luxuriously over the patty,

pineapple salsa brings a burst of sweetness and vibrant color, harmonizing
beautifully with the savory notes. All of this is complemented by a melted layer

Poblano Esquite & Short Rib Birria, are piled on top of a Brisket and Short Rib
Chuck smash Burger with Oaxaca cheese, tortilla strips. No street food would

Five Guys Western Style Double Bacon Burger:
Two Beef Patties with American Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon ,Grilled Onions,

Glacial Lakes Distillery feat. Fat Kid Filly’s El Toro Loco:
In house ground sirloin and brisket mix 6oz. Patty on a toasted kaiser bun, with
a creamy taco spread and laying on a bed of cilantro, topped with melted white
queso, shredded lettuce, house made Pico and a avocado lime drizzle. Comes
with choice of kettle chips.

Holiday Inn – Grille 100 The Lei’d Back Burger:
Black sesame bun, marinated smash patty, caramelized spam, smoked cheddar,
sambal pineapple salsa, maui teriyaki sauce. Served with island fries and a side
of Maui teriyaki sauce.

JL Beers Peanut Butter Haystack Burger:
Finding the Best Burger in this year’s competition is like finding a noodle in a
haystack! Well search no further, today is your lucky day! We took our signature
bun, a ¼ lb of fresh ground beef and piled on a peanut butter haystack featuring
fresh ground peanut butter, butterscotch, chow mein noodles and mini
marshmallows. We then added a couple strips of country bacon for good
measure. You’ll be sure to exclaim, “I’ve Finally Found It!” after you’ve experienced
this one!

La Luna Cafe Escabeche Burger:
A bold twist on a traditional Salvadorian sandwich to create the Escabeche Burger,
our burger features a beef patty topped with a tangy escabeche of pickled v
egetables, melted pepper jack cheese, fresh tomato and lettuce. Our house-made
jalapeño ranch adds a creamy kick, while a side of our savory red salsa elevates
the flavors. All of these flavors are pulled together with a toasted Breadsmith bun.

Papa Woody’s Triple Crown Burger:

Topped with a layer of toasted fresno chili and roasted garlic spread, Chinese mustard aioli tossed green onion, red bell pepper & napa cabbage slaw. Severance Brew Co feat. Rudy Navarrete Tex Mex Juicy Sioux-zy Burger:
The Juicy Sioux-zy is a 1/2lb seasoned beef patty stuffed full of cheddar, onion and green bell peppers sitting atop a slice of gouda on a Breadsmith onion bun. Topped with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, garlic aioli, and Grillo’s pickles!

Swamp Daddy’s Creole Crown Burger:
Traditional bun with a roasted garlic aioli, herb cheese spread, spring greens, tomato, pickles, a patty blend of brisket, short rib and ground chuck, topped with peppered bacon, andouille sausage gravy, spiked onion rings and loaded with smoked gouda cheese drizzled with sambuca infused bbq sauce.

The Treasury The French Onion Burger:
The French Onion Burger is The Treasury’s twist on two classic dinnertime favorites. A 6 oz all-beef patty is served on a toasted baguette, topped with Gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, and fresh arugula, all tied together with a tangy Dijonnaise. This burger features 1/3 Beef Patty seasoned to perfection with lettuce, mustard, relish, onion, tomato, pickle, sports peppers and a dash of celery salt on a Breadico sourdough poppy seed bun. With a side of lemon pepper mild sauce fries.

Woodgrain Brewing Company feat. Southern Perfection BBQ The OhhGee Burger:
We start with a fresh 1/4 lb. chuck patty seasoned and seared to perfection. Then topped with aged white cheddar. 1/4 lb. of 14 hour smoked pulled pork is placed on next, then layered with in house made chimichurri slaw and bacon relish. All of this awesomeness is secure between a freshly buttered and toasted potato bun. The OhhGee is accompanied by a side of Jo’s Southern Style Baked Mac and Cheese.
